Scaffold Competent Person- Inspector Course

Course Overview

This course has been organized and developed by Scaffold Training Institute (STI), Houston, Texas, USA (is a worldwide leader in providing scaffold training programs) based on the international American standards for Scaffolding (OSHA Scaffold Regulations). The course provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills to become competent scaffold persons as required and defined by OSHA standards and in alignment with the BS standards. The Course's certificate is an internationally recognized qualification. It provides an excellent technical background in the main essentials of safe Scaffolding operations, including but not limited to erection, dismantling, alteration, and inspection of different types of scaffolds.

Who Should Participate

For all multinational Organisations have Scaffolding works in their scope of work and need to improve the level of safety implementation during their work and prevent any undesirable accidents that come from this kind of work. The course is designed for Construction Foremen & Supervisors, Scaffold Inspectors and Supervisors, Construction and scaffolds designers’ Engineers, HSE Engineers, and HSE Supervisors.

 Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing the course, the participants will be better able to

  • Specify the General Requirements for Frame, Tube & Clamp, and System Scaffolds.
  • Determine the hazards associated with erection, dismantling, altering, and using scaffolds.
  • Determine the Specific Safety Rules and Steps Associated with the Erection of Frame, Tube & Clamp, and System Scaffolding.
  • Identify the Major Items to Consider when Performing a Scaffold Inspection.
  • Specify the Major Elements of OSHA's Regulation 29 CFR Subpart L - Scaffolding.
  • Specify the main differences between Scaffold OSHA and BS standards.
  • Design and calculate the scaffold loads

The course duration is four days, including the practical part. Full-day training

Course Examination

After completing the course, there will be a multiple-choice exam.

Course Certification

Attending all the course sessions and passing the exam is mandatory for getting the local Course Certificate and if requested the international course, wallet card, and hard hat decal from Scaffold Training Institute in Texas, USA.

The certificate shall be in the title of “Scaffold Competent Person/Inspector.”

Day 2

  • Review of Day 1
  • Hazards of Scaffolds (Continuing):
    • Falling objects.
    • Electrocution.
    • Collapse.
    • Bad planking giving away.
  • General Safety Requirements:
    • Types of falling protection.
    • Preventing falling objects.
    • Dealing with Overhead Power lines.
    • Securing of Scaffolds (Ties- Guys, etc.).
    • Planks requirements.
    • Scaffold Foundation.
    • Plumb, level, and square of Scaffolds.

  • Review of Day 2.
  • Safe method of Erection & Dismantling of Scaffolds.
